Description
Golden Cane Palm (Chrysalidocarpus lutescens), also known as Areca Palm, is a graceful tropical palm originating from Madagascar. Known for its lush, feathery fronds and slender, yellow-green stems, this palm brings a lush, resort-like feel to any garden. Best suited to a sheltered spot with part shade, it can adapt to tolerate full sun if protected from harsh winds, making it versatile for Perth's climate. Ideal for outdoor garden beds or as a statement indoor plant in large spaces, the Golden Cane Palm also works well in pots, especially when young.
Throughout Summer (Birak), the palm produces small yellow flowers, adding an extra touch of colour to its bright green foliage. While it requires regular watering during its establishment period, once mature, it becomes relatively low-maintenance, requiring less frequent watering in cooler months. This palm is an excellent choice for creating natural privacy screens or filling out larger garden areas with an exotic flair.
