Description
Grapefruit 'Thompson's Pink', also known as 'Pink Marsh' is a popular cultivar of Citrus x paradisi, originating from Barbados. Known for their juicy, pink-fleshed fruit, these trees make an excellent choice for Perth gardens, bringing both beauty and delicious produce to the landscape. Best grown in full sun, they will also tolerate part shade and perform well in both garden beds and large pots. For optimal growth, they thrive in well-draining, sandy or loamy soil, enriched with compost, or a high-quality citrus potting mix if container-grown.
Grapefruit trees produce attractive white flowers with a hint of purple from Early Spring (Djilba) to Late Summer (Bunuru), with fruit ripening through the warmer months. Harvest the fruits once they reach their characteristic pink colour and are slightly soft to the touch. Grapefruits are excellent fresh, juiced, or incorporated into salads, desserts, and even savoury dishes. Regular and consistent watering during warm weather is essential to ensure juicy fruit and to prevent splitting.
