Diospyros kaki 'Fuyu', commonly known as the Persimmon, is a non-astringent fruit tree, meaning its fruit is sweet and edible even when firm, unlike some other persimmon varieties that require softening to remove bitterness. The 'Fuyu' persimmon’s fruit can be enjoyed straight from the tree while still firm, offering a crisp, apple-like texture. This deciduous tree, which goes dormant during Makuru (winter), thrives in Perth’s sunny climate and makes a striking addition to gardens.
