Description
Camellia 'Chansonette' is a stunning hybrid Camellia japonica x oleifera, also known as Sasanqua, prized for its beautiful, cascading branches and deep pink blooms. This cultivar offers an extended flowering season from Autumn (Djeran) through to Early Spring (Djilba), creating a vibrant display in garden beds or pots. Its trailing growth habit makes it particularly well-suited for planting along borders or on embankments where it can elegantly drape. 'Chansonette' thrives in morning sun, part shade, or full shade, making it ideal for shaded spots in Perth gardens.
For optimal results, plant 'Chansonette' in well-drained, acidic soil, preferably using a Camellia-specific potting mix to maintain the correct moisture balance. Regular watering during Perth’s hot, dry periods will help to keep the soil moist and support the plant’s health. Reaching a mature height and width of approximately 2.5 - 3 metres, 'Chansonette' is a versatile, evergreen shrub that adds year-round greenery with seasonal splashes of colour in shaded areas.
