Description
Canna Lily 'Tropical Red' is a striking water plant known for its vibrant red blooms that bring a tropical feel to water gardens. Originating from Tropical America, this semi-deciduous variety can grow beautifully in a tub of water, making it ideal for Perth’s warm seasons. This cultivar thrives with tall, lush green foliage and produces its vivid red flowers from Late Spring (Kambarang) through Early Summer (Birak), adding dramatic colour and texture to pond edges or water tubs in gardens.
Best grown outdoors, 'Tropical Red' prefers full sun but will tolerate some shade, especially during the hottest part of the day. It requires consistently moist conditions to thrive and benefits from being submerged in water during warmer months. During Winter (Makuru), this Canna Lily becomes semi-dormant, so it’s best to keep it in a protected spot with reduced water levels. This resilient water plant is easy to grow and provides a bold, tropical aesthetic to any aquatic or water-themed garden setting.
