Description

The Pin-Cushion Hakea, with the botanical name Hakea laurina, is a large shrub native to Western Australia that can be pruned into a small tree. The plant is most known for its eye-catching red to white flowers, which bloom from Djeran to Djilba (autumn to early spring). As a versatile addition to your garden, it can serve as both a striking focal point and a natural screen.

For best results, plant in well-drained soil in a sunny location. If your soil is on the sandy side, consider adding a soil conditioner for better water retention. While there's no specific seasonal water requirement, a low-phosphorus native fertiliser can be applied for optimal growth. Pruning is best done after the flowering period to maintain its shape.
