Description
Ficus elastica 'Marble' is a stunning variegated cultivar of the Rubber Tree, featuring glossy green leaves with bold cream or white margins. Its striking foliage makes it a favourite for indoor spaces or as a feature plant in tropical gardens. In pots, it remains a manageable size, perfect for smaller spaces, while in the ground, it can grow into a majestic tree.
Plant 'Marble' in free-draining soil and place it in bright, indirect sunlight for the best colouration, although it can tolerate full sun. Water sparingly once established, allowing the soil to dry between waterings. Clean the leaves occasionally to maintain their sheen, and feed with a balanced fertiliser during the growing season to promote healthy growth. In the ground, 'Marble' can reach up to 30 M tall and 25 M wide, but remains 1.5 - 2.5 M in pots.
Ficus plants are known for their strong, invasive root systems. Care must be taken when planting 'Marble' in the ground to avoid proximity to reticulation systems or infrastructure. When grown in pots, ensure roots do not extend through drainage holes into the ground, as this could cause complications with repotting or relocation.
