Agapanthus - QUEEN MUM™ - Lily of the Nile 'PMN06' PBR

Agapanthus praecox 'Queen Mum™' is a striking evergreen perennial renowned for its large, bicoloured flower heads that bloom in early summer (Birak) and continue into late summer (Bunuru). Reaching up to 1.5 metres in height and spreading approximately 1.2 metres wide, this cultivar features glossy, strap-like green foliage that forms a lush, clumping habit. The impressive flower clusters display white petals with violet-blue bases, creating a captivating contrast that adds elegance to garden beds, borders, and containers. 'Queen Mum™' thrives in full sun to part shade positions, making it well-suited to Perth’s climate.

For optimal growth, plant 'Queen Mum™' in well-drained soil enriched with organic matter. While it exhibits moderate drought tolerance once established, regular watering during extended dry periods will promote vigorous flowering. Applying a balanced fertiliser in spring can enhance bloom production. Minimal pruning is required; however, removing spent flower stalks will maintain the plant’s tidy appearance. This variety is also suitable for coastal gardens, as it tolerates windy and salty conditions.
