Description

?Bougainvillea 'Pedro', commonly known as Bambino Bougainvillea or Dwarf Bougainvillea, is a compact, evergreen shrub that adds vibrant colour to gardens and containers. This cultivar typically grows to a height and width of approximately 1.5 metres, making it suitable for small gardens, patios, or as a feature plant in larger landscapes. 'Pedro' is particularly noted for its brick-red to terracotta-coloured bracts (can be more pink in high light) that surround small, inconspicuous cream-coloured flowers, providing a striking visual appeal throughout the warmer months. ?For optimal growth in Perth's climate, 'Pedro' thrives in full sun positions and prefers well-draining loamy soil enriched with soil conditioner. Once established in the ground, it is very drought-hardy; however, when grown in pots, it requires regular watering during the warmer months to prevent the soil from drying out. Over-watering can reduce flowering, so it's essential to allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Light pruning after each flush of flowers encourages a bushier appearance and promotes further blooming. Due to its compact growth habit and vibrant blooms, 'Pedro' is ideal for use as a low hedge, in topiary, or to add bright colour to small gardens.
