Description

Bougainvillea glabra 'Raspberry Ice' is a vigorous, evergreen climber renowned for its vibrant raspberry-red to pink bracts and distinctive variegated foliage. The elliptic leaves display a striking combination of creamy yellow and green hues, adding visual interest even when the plant is not in bloom. This cultivar typically reaches a height of 3 to 5 metres and spreads up to 3 metres wide, making it ideal for covering fences, trellises, or unsightly structures. Flowering occurs prolifically from Djilba (Early Spring) to Bunuru (Late Summer), attracting pollinators and providing a bright, long-lasting display.

For optimal growth in Perth's climate, 'Raspberry Ice' thrives in full sun and prefers well-draining loamy soil enriched with soil conditioner. Once established in the ground, it is very drought-hardy, but potted plants will require regular watering in warmer months to prevent soil from drying out. Over-watering can reduce flowering, so it's essential to allow the soil to dry slightly between waterings. Light pruning after flowering encourages a bushier appearance and continued blooming. Due to its vigorous growth habit and striking variegation, 'Raspberry Ice' is ideal for landscaping, growing along walls, or training over structures.
