Description
The Golden Shower Tree (Cassia fistula) is renowned for its striking golden yellow flowers, creating a mesmerising canopy when in full bloom during Birak to Bunuru (summer). This medium to large tree becomes a garden centrepiece, offering vibrant colour and attracting a plethora of pollinators. Its cascading clusters of flowers make it a spectacular ornamental choice for garden enthusiasts.
This tree thrives in full sun and requires well-draining soil. When planting in sandy soil, adding a soil conditioner will enrich the ground, ensuring the tree's optimum growth. Regular watering, especially during its growing phase, and a yearly feed with a balanced fertiliser during Djeran (autumn) will keep it flourishing. If needed, light pruning can be carried out after the flowering season to maintain its shape and vigour.
