Description
Chain of Hearts (Ceropegia woodii) is a charming and unique trailing plant, celebrated for its cascades of heart-shaped leaves and delicate, tendril-like stems. Best suited to hanging baskets or elevated positions, its trailing nature makes it a striking decorative addition for both indoor and outdoor settings. The occasional appearance of dainty tubular flowers adds an additional layer of intrigue to this already captivating plant.
It thrives best in well-draining soil, preferably in a spot with bright, indirect light. If planting in the ground, particularly in sandy or less fertile soils, consider enriching with a soil conditioner for improved vigour. Chain of Hearts has moderate water requirements, necessitating more frequent hydration during the warmer Birak and Bunuru (early and late summer) seasons, while allowing the soil to slightly dry out between waterings. During the growing season, a light application of a liquid fertiliser can be beneficial. To maintain its graceful appearance, occasional pruning or pinching back of its vines is suggested, especially if they become too elongated.
