Description
The Meiwa Cumquat, known scientifically as Citrus crassifolia, is a captivating addition to any garden with its bright, round fruits and glossy green leaves. Highly valued for its sweet-tasting fruits, the plant is both an edible delight and an ornamental specimen, making it a dual-purpose gem. During its flowering phase, it boasts fragrant white blossoms, typically observed in Djilba (early spring).
Whether you choose to plant it in the ground or in pots, this citrus requires a sunny spot. If planting in sandy soils, it's beneficial to enrich the earth with a soil conditioner. To ensure optimal growth and a bountiful harvest, it's crucial to maintain consistent watering from Kambarang to Djeran (spring to autumn). Feed the tree with a citrus-specific fertiliser during Djilba. Harvesting the fruit can commence approximately 90 to 100 days after flowering, when they attain a rich orange hue. Occasional pruning post-harvest will keep its structure tidy and manageable.
