Description
Eremophila densifolia 'Purple Carpet' is a prostrate groundcover native to Western Australia, ideal for Perth gardens. This evergreen shrub features bright green foliage that turns reddish during flowering, creating a striking contrast with its masses of small purple flowers. It typically grows to 30 cm in height and spreads up to 1.5 M, making it perfect for garden beds, borders, or as a low-maintenance groundcover.
Thriving in full sun, 'Purple Carpet' prefers sandy, loamy, well-draining soils. Once established, it is drought-hardy but benefits from occasional watering during extended dry periods or heatwaves. To maintain its shape and encourage dense growth, prune lightly after the main flowering period, which peaks from early spring (Djilba) to late spring (Kambarang), though it can flower year-round. This plant is well-suited to Perth's climate and soil conditions, offering vibrant colour and texture to local landscapes.
