Description
Eucalyptus caesia, commonly known as Silver Princess or Gungurru, is a stunning native tree from Western Australia. It is renowned for its weeping branches, covered in silvery-grey foliage with a distinctive powdery bloom, and its striking red or pink flowers, adorned with golden stamens. The blooms appear during summer (Birak) and early autumn (Bunuru), attracting birds, bees, and other pollinators. The decorative, woody gum nuts that follow the flowers are an additional feature, often used in floral arrangements.
Silver Princess thrives in full sun and well-draining sandy or loamy soils, making it perfect for Perth gardens. Best suited to garden beds as a feature tree, it is also ideal for wildlife gardens. Regular watering is beneficial during establishment, but once mature, it is highly drought-tolerant. To keep the tree healthy, provide occasional deep watering during extended dry periods and prune lightly to maintain its shape.
