Description
The Grass-leafed Hakea, scientifically known as Hakea multilineata, is a large shrub native to Western Australia that can also be pruned into a small tree. It boasts pinkish-red to white flowers that enliven your garden from Makuru to Kambarang (winter to late spring). This versatile plant can be used as a striking garden focal point or a natural privacy screen.
Plant this hardy native in well-drained soil and full sun. If you're working with sandy soils, a soil conditioner is recommended for better water retention. Fertilise with a low-phosphorus native fertiliser to encourage vigorous growth. For best shape, prune after the Kambarang flowering period (late spring) has ended.
