Description
Hedera helix, commonly known as English Ivy, is a vigorous, evergreen climber with classic, lobed green leaves and a trailing growth habit. This adaptable plant can be grown as a groundcover, in hanging baskets, or trained to climb walls, fences, or trellises. It provides dense, attractive foliage coverage that thrives in shaded areas, making it ideal for brightening up low-light spots in Perth gardens.
English Ivy prefers part shade to bright, indirect light and performs well in moist but well-drained soil. It benefits from a light prune in early spring (Djilba) to maintain shape and encourage new growth. Water moderately, allowing the top layer of soil to dry out between waterings. While it may produce small, greenish-white flowers in autumn (Djeran), this plant is primarily cultivated for its lush foliage.
