Description
Hibiscus rosa-sinensis 'Tradewinds® Montego Wind' is a stunning evergreen shrub, showcasing eye-catching red-orange flowers that radiate warmth and tropical charm. The blooms are approximately 12–14 cm in diameter and contrast beautifully with the lush green foliage. This cultivar grows into a dense, bushy shape, reaching a mature height and width of 2.5–3 M, making it ideal for hedges, screens, or as a standout feature plant in garden beds.
For best results, plant 'Montego Wind' in full sun with well-drained, fertile soil. Keep the soil consistently moist with regular watering, particularly in warmer months, but avoid waterlogging. A slow-release fertiliser applied in early spring (Djilba) and again in late summer (Bunuru) promotes vigorous growth and an abundance of flowers. Light pruning after flowering maintains its shape and encourages new blooms. Mulching around the base helps to conserve moisture and protect roots from extreme temperatures.
