Description
Botanical Name: Solanum lycopersicum
Our most popular early-maturing big Beefsteak tomato which was a French favourite with outstanding flavour and few seeds. Clusters of deep red, large flattened ribbed fruit that can grow up to 9cm (3.5in) across. It is early maturing and suits temperate climates because it will set fruit at lower temperatures than other varieties. Best if staked and this variety has also got good disease and pest resistance. Excellent source of Vitamin C, A and E, potassium, fibre and antioxidants. Cooking Tip: great tomato for sandwiches, salads and sauces.
Mr Fothergill’s Tips:Water well and feed regularly when first truss has set. Pinch out lateral side shoots as they appear.
